Chiropractic treatment has been around since 1895, and the term chiropractic means “by hand.” Treatment by chiropractors has grown significantly in the last 100 years, and continues to be on the rise as manual therapy and alternative care become recognized throughout the world. The primary tool utilized by our chiropractors is the adjustment or manipulation. Chiropractic adjustments are applied to spinal and extremity joint restrictions and are vital in the restoration of function and healing of many neuromusculoskeletal pain conditions. Oftentimes as part of your chiropractic treatment, “low tech” rehabilitation exercises are taught that can be performed at home to help maintain the adjustment and strengthen weak/inhibited muscles affected by the condition. There are many additional chiropractic treatment options that MLCC provides. See treatment options under chiropractic services on the main menu.
Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most commonly used medical procedures in the world. It involves inserting sterile, hair-thin needles through the skin into specific “acupoints” of the body. Acupuncture stimulates the central nervous system to release chemicals that dull pain, boost the immune system, and regulate body function. The World Health Organization endorses acupuncture as a highly effective treatment for over forty-two different pathologies.
: MLCC offers physical therapy and it is often recommended for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal pain conditions. Physical therapists (PTs) are health care professionals who treat individuals who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Almost always the patient will work with our PTs to establish a home exercise program.
As part of its model of holistic healthcare, MLCC has Katherine Mattox, RDN, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. She will analyze your dietary intake and medication, possibly perform lab tests/blood tests and determine the most appropriate foods and vitamin supplements needed to help with your particular condition. Almost always a foundational diet is established that consists of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean, grass-fed meat and chicken, wild fish and seafood, raw nuts and lots of water.
