Shin Splint Relief
With shin splints, it is important that an accurate diagnosis and specific treatment recommendations be given before initiating care for this problem. There are many treatments available for shin splints including:
- Chiropractic manipulation/adjustments
- Physical therapy
- Nutritional supplementation
- Soft Tissue Fascial release
- Rest, then progressive return to events
Shin splints can come on rather quickly and can stop a high level athlete. They can also stop a person returning to physical activity as they try to get back into shape. Once the problem is identified, a specific treatment protocol can be initiated. Restoration of normal joint and muscle function is important obviously, orthotics can be used for the pronated, excessively flat foot, nutritional supplementation to help control inflammation is key.
